Vermont Trip Last Summer

Last summer I went to Vermont with a lot of my family for vacation and a wedding. We stayed in this huge house with a ton of bedrooms that was right along a stream/river. Vermont is a great place to take pictures. The majority of my pics were of nature, big surprise huh? Here are a few of my favorites from the trip.

This was one of the first pictures I took while crossing Lake Champlain on the ferry. This bird was sitting in the nest he built on a pier.

This was the view from the backyard of the house.

This is one of my very favorite pics from the trip. I took this while waiting for everyone to gather after our group stampeded Cabot Cheese.

This was a random dead leaf at the beginning of summer resting on the grass.

This is one of the hundreds of flower pictures I took. This was at the Von Trapp Family Home, from The Sound of Music.

This is a view of the Mount Mansfield in the area of Smuggler's Notch.
I took this pic on the way home. I think we were still in Vermont. It's just a grasshopper on some leaves.

We turned around on the way home just so we could go back to take some pics of this beaver dam and lodges. It was pretty neat.

Lightning

Here are a few shots from a lightning storm last night. I probably shot about 600 pics and most of them were of nothing but black sky. However, I was able to get a few great shots. I wish I lived in the open country so I could get the shots without neighbor's houses, power lines, and huge trees that get in my way.

Backyard Birdwatching in Winter

There are many birds that frequently find themselves in my backyard. Here are a few during a late winter snowstorm. The first is a male cardinal sitting in a tree.
This female cardinal was sitting on the fence.

Here is a pair of cardinals sitting in the holly tree.

This pair of cardinals were mingling with a few of their buddies on the ground.

These are goldfinches, in their winter colors, on the thistle feeder. There is a large numbers of these birds that frequently visit the feeder.

My Favorite Part of Spring

I love when the lilacs bloom. From the day I notice the buds, I daily check to see if they are close to blooming. Not only do I enjoy the color, but I love the smell. It's too bad I can't capture the smell in a picture.

A Bug's Perspective

I like looking at bugs. Throughout my childhood I spent many days picking up bugs, preferably cicadas. I had a collection of them, I think I still might have a few. Here are a few shots from a possible bug's perspective.

First Shots

I prefer to take pictures of of flowers, birds, bugs and other things you may find outside. Occasionally I will take a picture of people, usually the same kid. You won't see many pictures of people on here, unless it is a GREAT shot.I thought that the comparison of these two pictures was funny. Above is a shot of what the Tulip my mom brought home from church on Easter Sunday looked like. Below is what the flower looked like a week later.

Here Goes Nothing!

So, I decided to create a blog. It has taken me a while to do this because I don't have any children and I know people don't want to read a detailed account of my extremely boring life. But I figured since I take some pretty neat pictures, or so I think, I could post a few on here now and again. I soon as I figure out how this thing works, I will post some of my better pictures I have taken in the past.
